Each player receives two face-down cards, which are their hole cards. These are revealed at the end of all betting rounds. Texas Hold'em is a combination card game; five community cards are placed in the center of the table to be matched with the two hole cards in each player's hand to create the best five-card combination.
The process involves the flop, the second round of revealing, and the river card, resulting in five community cards in the center of the table. The flop consists of the first three community cards, the second round of revealing adds a fourth community card, and the river adds another community card, completing the dealing process. Each player can use these five community cards, and after the five community cards are dealt, players must use their seven cards to choose the best five-card combination.
First round of betting
Pre-flop: Two hole cards are dealt face down, and the first betting round begins. After each player receives their two hole cards, the first betting round begins, starting with the player to the left of the big blind. They have three options:
Call: Make the same bet as the big blind.
Raising the bet amount according to the game rules
Fold: Give up your hole cards
If a player folds, he or she will no longer be eligible to participate in this round. The size of the raise depends on the rules of the game, but conventionally it must be at least twice the big blind.
Limit Texas Hold'em: You can only increase your bet by the same amount as the big blind.
Pot-limit Texas Hold'em: You can only increase the maximum bet on the table at that time (after all bets have been placed).
No-Limit Texas Hold'em: You can increase your bet by any amount up to your hand; if you put all your chips in, it's called "all in".
Each player faces the same three choices: call, raise, and fold. For example, if the big blind in this game is $10, and the first player raises their bet to $40 under the rules of No-Limit Texas Hold'em, the second player can either call (bet $40), fold (exit the round), or raise to $70, since the initial raise was $30, and the difference between the initial big blind and the first player's raise is the difference between the big blind and the first player's raise.
Second round of betting
Flop: One card is discarded, and three community cards are dealt to the table, starting a new round of betting.
After the first round of betting before the flop, three community cards are dealt, and the second round of betting begins. In this round, the player to the left of the button takes their turn, proceeding clockwise. In addition to the three options mentioned earlier, players can also choose to check, meaning they pass the turn to the next player.
Third round of betting
Turn: Another card is cut, and the fourth community card is dealt. This is called "Turn," and a new betting round begins.
The fourth community card is called the "Turn". After the previous betting ends, once the fourth community card is dealt, a new betting round will begin. Similar to the previous round, players will have five options: bet, bid, fold, raise, and check.
Fourth round of betting
River: The last community card is called the "River," which is also the last betting round and the final showdown.
The fifth community card is called the "river card." After all betting is completed in the second round of the showdown, the river card is dealt, and a new betting round begins. Players will face the same choices again: bet, call, fold, raise, and check. After all betting actions are completed, the remaining players holding their hole cards will turn over their cards to determine who the winner is. This is called the showdown.
