1. Reveal your cards quickly. The standard for a dealer's hand isn't how good it is, but whether it's playable. If it's acceptable, reveal your cards immediately; otherwise, if someone else reveals theirs, your best bet is ruined. If you're drawing cards by hand, first, separate the red and black cards. Then, place less important cards on the outermost and innermost sides. During the reveal process, place the card you're most likely to reveal on the outermost side. For example, if you're playing a 2, place it where it's easy to drop onto the table. Never make a pulling motion when revealing cards, otherwise someone else can reveal theirs first.
Second, unless you have a pitifully small number of trump cards, you should generally count them. A friend said that the highest level is being able to name 8 cards in the end, but forgive my limited experience, I've never encountered that. Let's discuss it based on the average person's memory. Counting trump cards varies from person to person. This is how I calculate it: for example, if I have 13 trump cards in my hand, then there are 36 - 13 = 23 trump cards remaining outside. After one round of adjustments, you reduce the number by 3. I personally think that counting the remaining trump cards is less prone to error.
3. Play cards flexibly. 1. For example, if you have a single Ace in both suits, one suit is empty, and the other has only 3 cards excluding the Ace, you should generally discard both Aces first. (If your suit is longer, you should keep the Ace.) In this case, don't always play the Ace of the empty suit first, then the other; you should switch the order appropriately. 2. When you want your partner to take the lead, don't always stick to playing small trumps. For example, if you play a 3, and you play a small trump in the leading suit, the next player plays a 3 in a side suit, and your partner doesn't play it. If you want to take the lead again and still want your partner to take the lead, you should change your approach, either by playing a small pair in a side suit or by playing a single card in a side suit. In short, you need to make a comprehensive judgment.
IV. Card Control. If you lose points with your bottom cards, you must control your cards, meaning don't play all your high cards. When you play your high cards, your opponents are playing useless cards. If you play all your high cards, they'll be left with some "elite" cards, making it easy to lose your bottom cards. Moreover, opponents usually try to take the bottom cards in pairs, resulting in even greater losses. For example, if you have a side suit of AKKQQ, you can hold off on playing it initially, or even play smaller cards first, forcing your partner to play their larger cards (generally, regardless of the hand, your partner will play larger cards in side suits). This is especially effective when your trump cards aren't strong. The attacking side will definitely try to exhaust your trump cards, and your only way to protect your bottom cards is with side suits: as long as everyone still has that side suit, you still have a good chance of holding onto your bottom cards.
If you have AA in one suit, you usually don't play it first, unless you have very few in that suit and your partner might have a run of cards like a tractor. Also, if you and your partner are good at cooperating and your partner always plays a high card, if you play a single low card, the next player will probably not dare to play even if they have a K, because they don't have an A. At this point, if your partner plays a K, they will have the lead.
Fifth, it's possible to hold back a non-trump card (Ace), especially in games without trump. In no-trump, there usually aren't many trump cards to beat non-trump cards. Because the dealer wants to control the game and prevent others from playing their cards later, they hold back the Ace, making others mistakenly believe there's still an Ace left and hesitant to play it. Of course, there are advantages and disadvantages; sometimes the partner won't be able to escape scoring.
6. When playing as the dealer, if your opponent has a pair of trump cards, you can consider directly discarding a smaller pair to give them the lead. However, if you only have one pair of trump cards, you need to weigh the pros and cons, because without a pair of trump cards, you can't beat a pair of non-trump cards.
7. If you have AKK, 66, and a few single cards in your side suit, and you're not controlling the hand, consider playing the pair of KK first instead of AKK. If no one else has a pair, then play A66. If a player on the other side follows with a pair, then consider whether to play the A. For example, if you have 778899 in your side suit, sometimes you can just play 7788, keeping a pair for later. Sometimes you might have a tractor in your trump suit, but it's better to split it up and play it separately. In short, you need to play flexibly according to different situations, which is consistent with the general principle in point 3. Flexibility is very important; my examples are just a small part. Besides the necessary basic skills (card counting), you can try any playing style.
